Jurong Park is one of the best bird parks in Singapore which is situated in the Boon Lay Planning area of Jurong district. It covers about 202,000 sqm area of land in the western slope of Jurong Hill. The beach is under the supervision of Wildlife Reserves Singapore.
Jurong Bird Park is the brain child of Dr Goh Keng Singaporean minister of finance in 1968. He was moved by the free flight environment provided by Jurong hill. He saw the place as a good area for building a bird park where people can relax after a tiring workweek. It is based on free flying environment provided by the Jurong Hill to birds that the park is named Jurong Bird Park. It was not until 3rd January 1971 that the park was inaugurated and declared opened to everybody.
Jurong Bird Park is now home to many types of birds. It is ranked as one of the famous aviary zoos and the largest bird parks in the world today. It harbors different kinds of species of birds. It is estimated that there are more than 8,000 birds of different species living in the Jurong bird park.
