Vectrix Maxi Scooter

In the world of tree hugging environmentalists there is a new “Prius” on the horizon. The brand new Vectrix Maxi Scooter is the next “necessary” toy for any budding champagne environmentalists.

Unlike the Piaggio hybrid scooter this one is totally electric! There is not even a exhaust pipe on this baby, if you don’t believe me check out the picture below.

Due to the fact it has no combustion engine is it hard to compare it to other scooters.

Based on the size of the chassis it look similar to a large 400cc scooter but its top speed its more like that of a 125cc scooter. Whilst its top speed is a tad pathetic for such a large bike, the acceleration is meant to be out of this world!

Here is the top line technical features:

Engine: 125-volt nickel hydride battery

Top speed: 62 mph

Range: 68 miles at 25 mph probably more like 45 mph at normal usage

Weight: 462 pounds

One of the functions that stuck out to me is the multifunctional throttle that goes backwards and forwards. So if your not inclined to use the normal brakes you can push the throttle forward to slow down (with the added bonus of charging the battery!)

Ok so we have heard the technical features but what about the all important metric – Price?

Well it shocked me…. it’s

$11,000! (or £5,500 in old English money) I mean come on, that’s the price of a brand new super bike!

In my personal opinions its range of 45 miles will off a lot of possible users including myself.

However as the Prius has proved in California, if it becomes “cool” in the right circles this bad boy will likely to sell like hot cakes.
