Acne is an inflammatory disease of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the skin, most often on the face, that is characterized by the appearance of pimples or pustules. Since acne is a disease, there has got to be something that can treat it, right?

Do not panic, if you want to know how to get rid of acne, hope is within reach. I understand because I have been there and have used dozens of treatments, only to find very few that were effective for me. If you are an acne sufferer then it is quite possible that several people have already taken notice, especially you.

It does not matter what your age is, acne shows no mercy – even well into your adult years. Acne is often caused by a hormone called androgen. Androgen can cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge, therefore creating acne. This is especially common amongst teenagers, premenstrual females, and pregnant women. Did I mention that acne can leave your self-esteem low and be a real pain in the tush?

More causes of acne are having excess sebum. Sebum is the fatty secretion of the sebaceous glands. When you have too much sebum, it can also cause an acne flare-up. This usually happens when the sebaceous gland is stimulated by the androgen hormone.

Another very common cause of acne is having too much bacteria on the face. When skin cells to do shed evenly, the dead skins cells get left over and combine with the new ones to create extra bacteria, thus causing more breakouts. However, there are many more causes of acne, but of course, you want to know how to get rid of acne. I too was faced with acne when I was a teenager and spent almost 2 years trying to find proper treatment. It is kind of crazy because I would have never thought that natural was the way to go.

One natural remedy to get rid of your acne would to go and purchase some face soap made with oatmeal. This can be especially effective for those wanting to know how to get rid of acne that have sensitive skin. If you do indeed have sensitive skin, you may need to stay away from some of the more harsh creams on the market. Some of those have been known to cause even more breakouts and leave scarring.

The first kind that I ever tried was a cream that ended up costing my parents 70 dollars. It was in a tiny tube and one night I used it only to wake up the next day with my face bleeding! It was way too strong and left scars that that are still there to this very day. Acne hurts, and it can be very embarrassing to live with. My scars have cleared although, but only because it has been about 12 years since I had them.

It is best to stick with more affordable and natural ways of treatment. Frequent washing of the face with soap in warm water usually helps. When you wash your face in warm water, it opens up the pores letting the soap get in and clean out the inside of the pores of the face.

Be sure that if you take this route to rinse your face about 2 to 3 more times in the warm water to ensure that all of the soap has been rid from the pores. Once you are certain that there is no more soap inside of your pores, you will need to rinse your face in ice cold water another 2 to 3 more times.

This is a miracle cure and it starts to show effectiveness after only 1 week of treatment. It is the opening and closing of the pores that does the trick and helps to get your pores into balance with each other so that you are shedding skin evenly.

There are several more options available on how to get rid of acne. Stronger creams are to be used only in more severe cases when other natural options have already been discovered and have failed after months of treatment.

While there is no cure for getting rid of acne, the treatment options are huge and readily available to anyone who want them. Sometimes, it can even mean heading to a dermatology office for a visit to make sure that no professional treatment is needed. In whatever way that you choose on how to get rid of acne, rest assured that it will not last forever and with persistence and proper care, you acne will be gone in no time.
