Low calorie, low protein diets may offer cancer protection

Eating a low calorie, low protein diet may offer protection against cancer. Those eating low calorie, low protein diets had lower levels of IGF-I, insulin, free sex hormones, leptin, and C-reactive protein than endurance trained runners of similar body weight.

The cancer protection comes from lower levels of plasma growth factors (like IGF-1) along with a greater consumption of fruits and vegetables.
