Soy has low glycemic and insulin responses

Soy foods may improve blood glucose and insulin control. All soy foods were found to be low glycemic and illicit minimal insulin responses, testing low on the glycemic index and the insulin index.

Other studies have shown that post exercise, soy underperforms more insulogenic proteins (like whey) for stimulating protein synthesis and glycogen replenishment. Aside from this specific time period, soy is an excellent food choice.
