Sucrose (table sugar) fed rats had lower testoserone levels, higher blood pressure and more visceral fat than controls. Castrating the animals reversed the fat accumulation, hypertension and lowered their triglycerides. Testosterone injections reveresed these improvements while estrogen did not.
Obviosly males are more prone to visceral fat than pre menopausal women. The mechanism may be the ratio of hepatic lipase (HL) to lipoprotein lipase (LPL)…which is affected by androgens and estrogens.
