Vitamin C – A Powerful Antioxidant

Vitamin C is essential to the human body and considered to be one of the most important vitamins in your body needs. In addition to being a well known antioxidant, Vitamin C boosts the immune system, prevents disease, and strengthens the ligaments and tendons. It is a required part of your everyday nutrition, along with other vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin C is commonly used in conjunction with Vitamin E to treat skin that has suffered from radiation damage and reduce the appearance of scars. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin C can protect your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays. Having a glass of orange juice in the morning and snacking on some citrus fruit later in the day should give you enough Vitamin C to make it through the day; however it is also very common in supplement form which can be taken with or without food.

If you do choose to use a supplement, take care to avoid the time-release variety because they have not been proven by scientific research to be effective.
